I have become fascinated and obsessed with producing the best knives I possibly can.

I have always been drawn to knives, I love the simplicity of the tool and how beautiful they can be. I like to practice my craft at the intersection of beauty and function. I get such great pleasure from having a tool that is both practical and aesthetically pleasing, and from knowing that every time a client uses one of my knives, they too have that feeling.

At Ryan Simon Knives I like to offer my clients high Quality Bowie knives, Hunting knives that feel balanced and serve their needs, and kitchen knives that you will be able to use for a lifetime of preparing meals.

As a Craftsman I want to push back against the trend of short-lived products, designed to be thrown away or replaced regularly. I want to produce knives of enduring quality that stand out from the crowd, knives that you keep for a lifetime or hand down for many lifetimes to come.

Build your own knife

At Shingleback Knife and Forge where I make my knives, I would like to offer a chance for interested people to get up close and personal with the making process and be able to build their own knife. Whether you’d like design input on a knife or have a custom knife made by me, or if you’d like to get your hands dirty and become a knife maker yourself. I’d love to help.

There is a lot to be gained from making you own knife. From the variety of techniques in knife construction, to the physical practice of making something with your own hands. There is so much to be gained from taking part in one of the oldest tool making crafts in the world.
