Whether you're a complete beginner or an experienced maker looking to refine your skills, our courses offer a practical and rewarding introduction to the art of knife making.

The course is led by Ryan Simon, founder and an award winning Australian knife maker. Located in Jamestown South Australia Ryan Simon knives operates from a workshop perched on top of a hill, offering panoramic views of the surrounding Mid North countryside. The inspiring rural setting provides a unique backdrop for learning the craft of knife making while enjoying some of the region’s most scenic vistas.

Students benefit from direct one on one instruction, gaining practical knowledge developed through years of knife making, competition success and workshop experience.

Two Day Damascus Course

Day one

*Workshop Safety

*Drawing out and manipulating Damascus billet

*Blade profiling

*Rough grinding

*Heat treatment

*Finish grinding

Day two

*Handle construction and fitting.

*Hand finishing techniques.

*Etching of Damascus steel to reveal pattern.

*Sharpening and edge geometry.
